FAQ
This flying club is for those who want to fly in Thailand. Our aim is to provide a platform where like-minded individuals can come together and engage in social and networking opportunities with new people and groups. We hope to establish connections with Thai individuals and groups who share the same hobby, creating more enjoyable opportunities for everyone involved.
I apologize for the confusion. This flying club is not an officially recognized flying club, but rather an organization of like-minded individuals. However, operating aircraft is not permitted for private clubs. Therefore, this club operates under the supervision of the officially recognized "Eastern Flying Association," which allows for activities such as experience flights. Please note that any flight activities, including experience flights, would fall under the jurisdiction of the "Eastern Flying Association."
Yes, typically an instructor will handle the piloting, so you can experience a flight right away. If you already have piloting experience, we will need to conduct certain verifications and make individual arrangements accordingly.
The cost of a single flight can vary depending on the aircraft model, but generally it ranges from around 6,600 Baht for a flight duration of approximately 20 to 25 minutes. However, please note that there may be promotions or various discounts available, so it is advisable to check for updated information and confirm the pricing at the time of booking.
It depends on the aircraft model. In open-air models, it is not possible to take photos as the wind may blow off the camera from your hand. However, in enclosed cockpit models like autogyros, the wind does not enter, allowing you to freely take photos.
Please come to whichever location is convenient for you. Pattaya is recommended for its beautiful beaches and scenery. If you are working near Si Racha, it would be a great opportunity to see it from the sky and enjoy the views of the coastline and Bangpra water reserve. If you are interested in flight training, Si Racha has a wide and convenient runway for that purpose.
The club's office is located right in front of Nonkoh Airfield on the outskirts of Si Racha. You will see a Spider-Man figurine in front of the office. As for Pattaya Airfield, there is a workshop and maintenance area available. Thai staff members are present daily, but if you plan to visit, please contact us in advance.
Mr. Go can be reached at 0897893945.
Generally the instructors are Westerners and English-proficient Thai instructors. We can also introduce Japanese instructors, but please note that it would require a prior appointment.
There is no limitation on flying high just because they are small. You can find videos of microlight planes and gyroplanes flying up to around 4,000 meters (refer to the "Youtube video" page on this website for a video of flying around the Matterhorn in Switzerland). However, for scenic joyrides, the altitude typically ranges from 300 to 500 meters, which offers beautiful views and is considered one of the main attractions of flying in a microlight plane. Some people may find high altitudes similar to being on a regular airplane and less exciting. Join "Thai fly fun" and be amazed by the breathtaking views that you wouldn't be able to see from a regular airplane.
In Thailand, submitting a flight plan allows for takeoff and landing at other airports, enabling cross-country flights and other unique flying experiences that are not easily achievable elsewhere. (As of the end of February 2023, takeoff and landing between 49 airports within Thailand is permitted.) Thailand's year-round favorable weather, without cold seasons like in other countries, provides ample opportunities for flying throughout the year, making it an attractive destination. Additionally, even during the rainy season, it is still possible to fly during rain-free daytime periods.
What you see in the photo may resemble a helicopter, but it is not a helicopter. It is a gyroplane, which is an aircraft that cannot take off vertically like a helicopter. However, gyroplanes are highly popular in Europe and America as safe aircraft that can fly at low speeds without stalling (refer to the section on gyroplanes). While it may not be familiar to many, why not try experiencing a gyroplane, which is an opportunity rarely encountered?
The history of gyroplanes is quite old, but the fact is that they are not well-known in Thailand. However, in Europe and America, they are highly popular and widely used. At first glance, they may resemble helicopters, but the large rotor does not rotate directly by the engine. Instead, it spins based on the principle of windmill rotation, utilizing the forward thrust generated by the rear engine pushing the aircraft. Once the rotor is spinning, it continues to rotate throughout the flight. This unique design allows the gyroplane to slowly and naturally descend even if the rear engine stops and there is no forward propulsion. The opportunity to experience the fantastic flight of a gyroplane, which is not commonly seen in Thailand, is highly recommended.
All sports involve some level of risk, but due to its design, microlight planes do not simply fall like a stone even if the engine stops in the air. Pilots undergo training for landing without engine power multiple times during their flight license acquisition. They are well-versed in gliding techniques and have the necessary skills to land safely. Moreover, the engines used in microlight planes are specifically designed for aviation and equipped with special safety mechanisms. For example, they have multiple ignition plugs, with two plugs per cylinder for a total of eight plugs (compared to one plug per cylinder in regular engines). The fuel system also incorporates redundant components, with two fuel pumps being used. As an example, the reliability of aviation engines has increased to the point where experiencing an engine stall is extremely rare, unlike in the past when it may have occurred with cars. Aircraft engines are built with a higher level of safety in mind compared to car engines. Additionally, safety considerations, including weather conditions, are carefully assessed, so it's important to understand that flying is not always possible.
Yes, based on Thai aviation regulations, there is a licensing system in place, and we have a program available for obtaining a pilot's license. The cost is approximately 140,000 Baht, and a minimum of 18 hours of flight experience is required. For more details, please inquire at the club office.
